First Class Trouble experienced multiple server issues over the course of the day, some of which are ongoing. The problems began this morning, and it appears that the game’s developers have yet to fully restore online functionality.

The issues arose at before 10:20 AM Eastern, with players unable to join games. The Twitter account for First Class Trouble tweeted out that developers were working on the situation. The issue appeared to be resolved by 11:47, only to reappear about half an hour later. The developers announced what they thought was a permanent fix a few hours after that, only for an unrelated problem to cause additional widespread server outages. As of this writing, it’s not clear if the developers have determined the source of the current problem.

The game’s been in early access for a while, with First Class Trouble receiving a full 1.0 release on November 2nd. It’s not clear if the 1.0 update introduced bugs resulting in the current server outages. The exact cause might not be known for sure unless developer Invisible Walls releases an official explanation. Still, that appears to be the most probable cause. Even if the outage is revealed to be a coincidence, down servers on day one are not the ideal start to a full release.

First Class Trouble players find themselves trapped on the Alithea, a retro-futuristic intergalactic cruise ship. Most players take the role of passengers trying to save themselves from a malfunctioning artificial intelligence. However, some of them are secretly android imposters called Personoids working on the AI’s behalf. The developers don’t entirely shy away from comparisons to Among Us, presenting First Class Trouble as an expanded and upgraded version of the same concept.

The game features extensive options for character customization, which players can unlock by spending an in-game currency called Infinity Coins. First Class Trouble further livens up the Among Us formula with the addition of a physics engine and 3D graphics. It also boasts a proximity-based voice chat intended to immerse players further in the social deduction gameplay.

That’s all well and good but relies on players being able to actually join a match. That obviously can’t happen until Invisible Walls sorts out First Class Trouble’s server issues. Hopefully, for everyone involved, the developers will resolve the problem quickly and permanently. While fans of the early access version are unlikely to jump ship entirely, this would hardly be the first time a mishandled launch torpedoed a game’s future.

First Class Trouble is out now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
