These include official character biographies for Fire Emblem Engage characters, listing their name, kingdom, some factoids about them, along with their voice actor and personality. Accompanying tweets usually include a portion of their class’ gameplay, along with a support conversation. The latest previews shared on the official account (translated by Twitter user @SatsumaFS) focus on two of these playable characters, Zelkov and Merrin.

According to Zelkov’s profile, he is a royal soldier of Elusia, while also the retainer of Ivy. It also states he is a rather quiet and meticulous individual, where whatever he says sounds philosophical or has a hidden meaning. The support conversation that he has with Alear however, plays with this, where Zelkov has a variety of hobbies, though none of them seem to be “deep” but rather for his own satisfaction. As for Zelkov’s starting class, he is the Thief, where he is quick, uses daggers, and can pick locks to open treasure chests or doors without needing a key.
The other character, Merrin, is a royal soldier from the kingdom of Solm, being described as a knight that is elegant and stylish. This is evident with her fur coat and fashionable outfit, looking almost like Dimitri from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Her starting class is a brand-new class introduced to Fire Emblem, the Wolf Knight. Not only does she ride a wolf into battle, she is adept with daggers and have high mobility. Her support conversation with her liege, Timerra, gives a bit of her background, where Merrin notes she left her village to become a knight, and ran into Timerra, who was riding a wolf herself as well.
These biographies also list their Japanese voice actors, with Zelkov being voiced by Yu Taniguchi, while Merrin is voiced by Nanako Mori. With the game not too far from release, fans are getting plenty of information released from the Japanese side to stir up hype, such as a nine-minute overview trailer for Engage. Meanwhile, the Western fandom hasn’t been so lucky, receiving less marketing for the game, which confuses a lot of fans considering that Fire Emblem Engage is one of Nintendo’s biggest launches to start the year.
Fire Emblem Engage launches January 20, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
