That’s not to say that the new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer was entirely focused on Tifa, however. She was definitely well-represented, but the trailer covered a whole lot of ground. The start of the trailer helped reintroduce Cloud, Barrett, and Avalanche as well as their attack on Midgard. The end of the trailer hinted at the story beyond, including Cloud interacting with Aerith and none other than Sephiroth himself.
While the new trailer is mostly cinematic, there are some brief moments of combat gameplay. As is apparent from the trailer, the quality between the two is hard to distinguish. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is turning into a very exciting project, even beyond the legacy of the original game.
During the Final Fantasy 7 Remake portion of the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference, it was confirmed that this initial release would be just a portion of the full Final Fantasy 7 JRPG. However, it was promised that this Midgar chapter had grown large enough to stand on its own, filling a full two Blu-ray discs. As shown in the new cinematic trailer, that means that certain sequences will be expanded dramatically if only for dramatic effect. Full voicework is a much different experience than scrolling text.
More information on Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s first Midgar-focused chapter, as well on what’s coming afterward, will be made available as its ready as the game’s release date approaches.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake releases March 3, 2020 on PS4.
